Day 40, Chapter 40
For forty days and forty nights I have roamed in the desert that is The 9th Judgment. (Although, there has been nothing tempting about it.) Oh where does the time go?
Really, all that happens in the 40th chapter is that the husband of the latest pair of victims shows up at the crime scene – he was off buying cigarettes & had planned on meeting his family at the car in the garage – and he goes understandably batshit when he finds out they are dead.
Jacobi yelled, ‘FREEZE,” then pulled his Taser from his belt. I shouted, “Jacobi, NO! Don’t do it, don’t –” But I knew he had no choice. I heard the electric chattering of the stun gun, and the big man jerked off his feet, going down as if his spinal cord had been cut.
The rest of the chapter is of this guy sobbing on the floor of the parking garage, tased and alone. Lindsay feigns sympathy, but I can tell she just wants to pry information out of him. Oh wait, she’s a woman, so maybe the sympathy and emotion is genuine because she’s weak, right James? (See Chapter 39.) We have reached a new low.
Go to Day 41.
